April 2010 Companion Visit
Sixteen individuals from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi have been invited to spend time with their companions in the NW Synod of Wisconsin. Preparations are now being made for their visit. Two significant parts of their visit will be participating in the synod sponsored “Glocal Mission Gathering” to be held April 23rd and 24th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. April 30th and May 1st will see them welcomed at the Synod Women’s Organization Convention at the Plaza Hotel in Eau Claire. These events, as well as the time they will spend in the congregations of their matched companions, will surely deepen the relationship we enjoy with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi.

During this process of selection in Malawi, obtaining passports, and visas, please keep these travelers in your prayers. We pray especially for the area of northern Malawi, especially Karonga, Mlale, and Ngengere Parish, which have been struggling with earthquakes and the resulting devastation.

Host congregations are meeting today to discuss logistics. So far 15 people have been selected. Several of them do not have passports. Lots to pray for!
