Prayer Petition - Mobile Health Clinics:
God of health and healing, we lift up to you today the ministry of the Mobile Health Clinics of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Malawi bringing health and healing out to villages where there is little access to medical care. Bless this ministry, bless the doctors and nurses, bless the travels over difficult roads so that your people can be helped and healed. Amen.

Mobile Health Clinics
The role of mobile health clinics has changed slightly the past few years as the hunger situation has improved. The mobile clinics have been connected to the clinic at the Madisi Training Center. That clinic has been outgrown and is now closed. Plans are in progress to replace it with a bigger building. Since there are fewer feeding centers, the mobile clinics now assist with the selection of parishes for feeding centers in hard-hit areas. These are targeted places where there still isn’t enough food, like the Lower Shire area that is still in drought or northern Malawi in the Karonga area that is still recovering from the earthquakes last year. The ELCM monitors these situations and sends shipments of Likuni phala (nutritious porridge) and the mobile clinic in order to maximize transportation and staff. The drop in hunger offering support the past few years has hurt the viability of this ministry since staffing of trained personnel is needed in order to distribute prescription medications. Non-prescription medications like over-the-counter pain relievers and vitamins can be distributed by ELCM staff.
